About The Position

At Steven Douglas Corp (SDC) we design and build custom, automated machines that are used in a wide variety of applications and industries. We work in a fast-paced, exciting, and highly technical environment where our team never designs the same machine twice and is often challenged with solving problems with no standard solution. A Project Manager (PM) at SDC is responsible for guiding each assigned project, including large (> $5M) multi-cell systems, through internal departments from kick-off to close out. PM’s aid in the forward progression and success of each project, acting as the liaison between the client and the SDC team; and ensuring each project is delivered on budget and on time. For this position we’re looking for an individual with a history of successfully managing technically challenging projects, including helping solve technical problems as they arise. Requirements

  • History of driving projects through best practices, processes and change management.
  • Experience solving technical problems on custom automation equipment.
  • Enjoys hands-on approach to help assist projects to finish line.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills, conflict management and proactive decision making.
  • Ability to develop relationships, build credibility, and establish trust.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to effectively lead and manage interdepartmental teams.
  • Proficient with Smartsheet.
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering, or related field.
  • PMP Certification
  • Experience identifying needs, assigning roles and responsibilities, and managing teams to meet project deliverables.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with custom automation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead an interdepartmental team to complete assigned projects on time, on budget, to specifications, with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to help solve technical problems: quickly evaluate technical risk, create, and manage plan to mitigate risk.
  • Manage changing responsibilities, project prioritization, and workload adjustments by effectively managing changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Keep the project plan accurate and updated.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques to monitor the progress of the project, identify and quantify any variances, perform any required corrective actions, and communicate to all stakeholders.
  • Act as a liaison between company, customers, and vendors by addressing questions, concerns, and/or complaints throughout the project in a timely and professional manner.
