About The Position

The Project Manager </b>will be responsible for planning, budgeting, overseeing, and documenting all aspects of assigned projects for the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Environmental Epidemiology and Disease Registries Section. This role provides senior -level consultative services and technical assistance to support agency priority initiatives and special projects using established project management best practices. The position involves close coordination with agency business and program units to ensure successful implementation of multiple, interrelated initiatives. The Project Manager will work under limited direction with extensive latitude for independent judgment and initiative. All work products are considered works made for hire and are the property of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC).

Requirements

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • 8 years of experience researching, gathering, assembling, correlating, and analyzing complex information.
  • 8 years of experience analyzing and solving complex problems and effectively prioritizing issues.
  • 8 years Experience developing and delivering reports identifying technology and operational gaps.
  • 8 years Experience in mapping business processes and identifying process improvements.
  • 8 years Experience developing project documentation, including statements of work, project charters, budgets, schedules, risk assessments, and cost estimates.
  • 8 years Experience managing multiple projects across large organizations, including risk and issue management.
  • 8 years of demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with project sponsors and stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • 7 years Experience developing briefing documents, administrative reports, and presentations for senior and executive audiences.
  • 5 years Experience summarizing, escalating, and presenting project issues and weekly status updates (written and verbal).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and oversee multiple concurrent projects aligned with DSHS and HHSC priorities.
  • Assess, analyze, research, coordinate, and evaluate project management implementation efforts.
  • Develop and maintain project charters, work plans, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Ensure the use of project management best practices, standards, and methodologies.
  • Track project risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation strategies and ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain coordination across related initiatives and manage special projects assigned by leadership.
  • Develop and maintain project management tools and project tracking data.
  • Prepare and deliver project status reports and briefings to executive and senior leadership.
  • Facilitate meetings, stakeholder engagement, and group problem -solving sessions.
  • Provide recommendations to agency leadership to improve project management practices and operational effectiveness.
