Job Description The Project Manager's responsibilities include, without limitation, reviewing and summarizing project data, conducting field checks for compliance of construction with design documents and university requirements, monitoring, reporting and providing recommendations and solutions to the Facilities Director relative to current project status, delivery objectives, schedule, costs, budget, staffing delays, disputes, changes, and compliance with SOP and other construction requirements. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Based on his/her direct observations of conditions in the field and familiar with all aspects of the design and construction process and supporting documentation, other duties include: Identify risks, proposes approaches to mitigating their impacts and maintains a risk register database to enter and update risks and mitigation plans. Coordinate with the University Team and others to develop and execute construction phasing and swing space plans and tracks progress against those plans. Work with the Design Team, contractors, inspectors, and others to resolve complex, construction related issues in a timely manner and within budget. Directly oversees the close-out of Campus Projects for compliance with the university requirements Primary contact and liaison for owner and principle partner entities for the contract, design, systems, procedures and related deliverables Represents owner, project and related parties in public forums and meetings Manages project controls, cost, and performance activities and procedures, project logistics, organization, systems and project closeout Leads in project meetings to include documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information and statuses Manages bid phase services, as may be required by the client Performs other duties as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent is required (Extensive relevant project management experience in place of education may be considered)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Project Manager in the Education Sector is required
  • Experience within a large capital improvement program and familiarity with relevant provisions of the California Public Contract Code.
  • Experience managing multiple delivery methods, including design build, progressive design build, JOC, etc.
  • Knowledge of all parts of the project life cycle, to include planning, design, construction and closeout.
  • Knowledge and application of master planning, A/E solicitation, project development, design-phase management, construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, contracts and delivery methods are required
  • Ability to multi-task, solve problems and successfully deliver projects
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project-related systems such as Prolog and Primavera are required

Nice To Haves

  • Registration as an Architect or Professional Engineer is preferred
  • Certified Construction Manager and DBIA is preferred
