About The Position

Do you bring a minimum of 10 years managing large-scale projects, including at least 3 years within higher education facilities, and enjoy guiding complex design and construction programs? MBP is looking for a Project Manager to support architectural/building design and construction projects for York County Community College in South Carolina. The ideal candidate offers a minimum of ten years of experience on large-scale projects, with at least three years at a higher education facility, and is ready to contribute to a multi‑year program with project contract values up to $50M.

Requirements

  • Minimum of ten years of experience on large-scale projects
  • At least 3 years at a higher education facility
  • Multi‑project program context at York County Community College in South Carolina, with up to $50M in project contract value over the next ten years
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or a construction-related field (required)
  • Advanced understanding of drawings and specifications
  • Developing or rehabilitating building infrastructures and systems
  • OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification (must possess or obtain within 3 months of hire)
  • Project planning and budgeting
  • Project management best practices
  • Rules, regulations, codes, and guidelines related to building construction and renovations, including fire, electric, energy, utilities, disabilities, egress, elevators, escalators, stairs, and associated permits
  • Ability to work at a Higher Education environment
  • Principles and practice of public sector management and administration of airport policies and procedures
  • Industry standard building specifications and codes
  • Design, construction, and/or maintenance of building components and finishes; electrical and lighting systems; HVAC systems; potable water and sanitary sewage (gravity and forced main systems); fire alarm and fire protection systems; utilities and communication systems
  • English grammar, spelling, punctuation
  • Principles and practices of basic bookkeeping
  • Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment
  • Organization and time management
  • Interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
  • Performing basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios
  • Assigning, prioritizing, monitoring, and reviewing work assignment
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Architect or Engineer desirable but not required
  • LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) certification (preferred)
  • Project Management certification (desired but not required)

Responsibilities

  • Manage consultants and contractors across multiple projects
  • Provide design oversight from planning through delivery
  • Support procurement activities and related documentation
  • Monitor construction and provide oversight for quality, schedule, and budget targets
  • Coordinate tenants, business partners, and York County Community College departments
  • Analyze and interpret technical data, reports, specifications, and engineering and architectural plans for facilities at a commercial air carrier airport
  • Prepare, evaluate, monitor, and maintain complex operating budgets and capital program budgets
  • Plan, organize, and direct work on complex projects involving building infrastructure and systems; promote consensus and negotiate favorable outcomes
  • Research current and future trends to establish programs for existing and new buildings
  • Create and meet schedules and deadlines
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions
  • Organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files accurately
  • Maintain confidentiality of information and professional boundaries
