Requirements

  • Must be able and willing to work some weekends and occasional overtime.
  • Must be capable of documenting, preparing and submitting observation data, time and expense data using a smart phone or tablet computer.
  • Ability to clearly provide and receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must successfully complete background and motor vehicle record check.
  • Must follow Construction Site Safety rules and practices.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector
  • ICC Structural Steel and Bolting Special Inspector
  • ICC Spray-Applied Fireproofing Special Inspector
  • ICC Post-Tensioning Special Inspector
  • ICC Welding Special Inspector
  • NJDCA Special Inspector License (3 or more of the Following)
  • Spray-Applied Fireproofing Special Inspector
  • Structural Steel & Bolting Special Inspector
  • Structural Welding Special Inspector
  • Pre-Stressed Concrete Special Inspector
  • Exterior Insulation Finish (EIFS) Special Inspector
  • Mass Timber Construction Special Inspector

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coordinate, and perform daily field inspections to verify construction work complies with project plans, specifications, and applicable codes and standards
  • Serve as the primary on-site representative for quality assurance, ensuring workmanship, materials, and installation methods meet contract requirements and industry best practices
  • Assign, direct, and mentor inspectors and technicians; review work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company and client standards
  • Prepare, review, and approve daily inspection reports, test reports, and project documentation; ensure timely and accurate recordkeeping of all field activities
  • Identify non-conforming work, document deficiencies, and coordinate with contractors and project stakeholders to drive resolution and corrective actions
  • Review construction plans, shop drawings, and submittals; provide constructability and compliance feedback prior to and during construction
  • Coordinate and oversee materials testing, special inspections, and third-party services; validate results and maintain testing logs and documentation
  • Act as liaison between clients, contractors, engineers, and internal teams to ensure clear communication, issue resolution, and alignment on project objectives
  • Monitor construction schedules, progress, and productivity; identify risks to budget, schedule, or quality and proactively recommend mitigation strategies
  • Support project management functions including scope tracking, budget awareness, invoicing support, and change management
  • Participate in project meetings, provide status updates, and advise clients on quality, safety, and compliance matters
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements; escalate critical issues and stop-work conditions when necessary.
  • Perform quantity tracking, field measurements, and assist in pay applications and project closeout documentation
  • Conduct final inspections and support project closeout, including punch lists, as-builts, and turnover documentation
  • Contribute to business development efforts, client relationship management, and identification of additional service opportunities within the Portland market
