About The Position

HealthierHere is the backbone entity for a cross-sector collaborative working to address health disparities and improve health outcomes for people in King County by improving the current system of care. This work centers community and Tribal voice along with healthcare and social service providers in the co-creation and implementation of strategies designed to provide access to culturally appropriate care, support and services that help people achieve the health outcomes that they desire for themselves. Principles of equity, anti-racism, decolonization, and authentic community engagement serve as the lens that shapes the way we do business. The Project Manager, Programs & Improvement (Project Manager) is responsible for leading project management efforts for term-limited projects, community investment opportunities, and procurements. The Project Manager creates scaffolding to drive project execution, including development of RACI structures, roadmaps, project timelines, objectives, and key performance indicators. This role will be responsible for coordinating across teams for scheduling, facilitation, and deliverable collection throughout the life of a project. The Project Manager will also maintain a portfolio of continuous quality improvement (CQI) work. This will include supporting teams with developing indicators for performance and outcome measurement as well as using CQI tools to support teams and partners with designing and implementing tests of change for improvement. This highly collaborative role works closely with multiple teams across the organization and is critical to the operationalization of our organizational values. This role reports to and works closely with the Associate Director, Strategic Initiatives. The Project Manager must be committed to 1) utilizing an equity framework as a way of doing internal and external business; 2) facilitating collaborative strategies that contribute to the elimination of health disparities and transform the health of King County, and 3) practicing the values of HealthierHere as an organization.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in program management, project management, public health, healthcare administration, or another related field
  • 3+ years of experience in program or project management, health and human services administration, public health, management, and/or business administration. An additional 3+ years of professional or life experience may substitute a bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects or programs from implementation through successful completion
  • Demonstrated competency understanding, communicating, and leveraging data to drive decision making
  • Comfort with data extracts and data analysis
  • Demonstrated experience leading and applying quality improvement principles and processes to drive improvement initiatives, such as Lean, Plan, Do, Study, Act cycles, or other approaches
  • Highly organized with demonstrated methods for organization including project management templates, note taking, and follow-up communication
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing equity and antiracism practices
  • Experience effectively collaborating across teams with a highly collaborative spirit
  • Skilled facilitator with the proven ability to adapt tone and style for diverse audiences, while moving the audience toward achieving clearly identified objectives
  • Experienced problem solver
  • Skilled communicator (written and verbal)
  • Proven ability to convey details, processes, and objectives clearly and persuasively in the form of written reports, presentations, proposals, guides/toolkits, etc.
  • A record of getting things done and driving clarity amidst ambiguity

Responsibilities

  • Manage project initiation, progress and execution for term-limited projects, investments, and procurements across HealthierHere teams
  • Work across HealthierHere teams to implement effective project management tools, including RACI structures, Gantt charts, goals, objectives, roadmaps, and key performance indicators/measures of success
  • Coordinate across project and program team members for scheduling meetings, gathering updates, and collecting project deliverables
  • Facilitate project management meetings for updates on project progress, problem solving, and continued project momentum
  • Develop accountability structures for project initiation and implementation to keep team members accountable to their roles, responsibilities, and activities
  • Ensure that project and program teams are measuring success and using data to drive results
  • Facilitate project or program retrospectives to gather reflections on project successes, challenges, and learnings that can be applied to future work
  • Work with project or program teams to develop maintenance plans for the ongoing quality assurance and improvement of the project or program
  • Work with Data and Systems Analysts and the Associate Director of Strategic Initiatives to identify opportunities for tests of change and continuous improvement efforts
  • Support both internal teams and HealthierHere partners when data indicates opportunities for improving performance and/or impact
  • Work with the Data and Systems Analysts in collaboration with program teams to identify data sources and methods for data collection related to CQI measures
  • Provide cross-team support with understanding data, external partner coaching, and thought partnership
  • Leverage evaluation plans and CQI tools to support teams in developing CQI plans to improve performance
  • This could be through the implementation of Plan, Do, Study, Act cycles, Lean principles, Six Sigma, and others
  • Consult with program teams on the execution of CQI improvement plans and empower teams with CQI tools and knowledge
  • Facilitate team retrospective learning opportunities to reflect on the successes, challenges, and learnings from CQI implementation that can be applied to future improvement efforts
