About The Position

BerryDunn is seeking a Senior Consultant – Project Manager to join our Medicaid Practice Group. You will be responsible for oversight, facilitation, and support relating to key Health and Human Services (HHS) projects, primarily within Medicaid system modernization (technology projects). This position may require travel to client sites within the United States and U.S. Territories as needed. You will bring a mix of demonstrated project management capabilities, exceptional organizational and self-management qualities, strong leadership capabilities, and effective written and verbal communication skills. You will be working across multiple Medicaid modernization initiatives focusing on areas such as Provider Management, Drug Rebate, Claims, Financial, Member Management, and other modules as identified. As part of our consulting team focused on state Medicaid agency clients, you will leverage your problem-solving abilities, along with project management, and systems knowledge to support and lead assigned work. This position must be based in the lower continental United States in the eastern or central time zones and can be remotely based from your suitable home office or at BerryDunn’s offices in West Virginia, Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, or New Hampshire. You will be expected to adhere to a core set of hours, predominately eastern time, with occasionally later meetings when working in other time zones. You will report to and partner with senior management in our Medicaid team both for client work and career development. Travel Expectations: 30% to 50%. Travel is an-needed and not expected to exceed 50%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) May substitute five years of applicable experience for degree
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working on systems implementation projects in areas such as requirements gathering, requirements management and tracking, programming, release management, systems architecture, and/or testing activities
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in Microsoft Project (project schedule development and maintenance)
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with a client to plan and manage modernization efforts using project management standards and best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong research skills, and ability to synthesize and present information from sources such as vendors and state and federal regulations
  • Proficient with Microsoft desktop applications and standard document repositories such as MS SharePoint

Nice To Haves

  • Project Manager certification through Project Management Institute (PMP or CAPM)
  • Experience working in a national or regional consulting firm, within a state Medicaid program, or at Medicaid vendors on system design and implementation of Medicaid modules, data warehouses, and/or eligibility systems
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Suite (e.g., Jira and Confluence) or similar software development and collaboration tools

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support design, development, and implementation activities as the project manager (in a lead or supporting role depending on the engagement)
  • Provide systems expertise with a strong understanding of the vendor marketplace and systems implementations
  • Utilize knowledge and experience to lead and provide project management services including, but not limited to developing and maintaining project work plans, schedules, status reports, risk and issue management, technical and business presentations, and other related project artifacts and research
  • Build relationships with project team members including client contacts, stakeholders, and vendor contacts
  • Estimate and maintain resource projections for responsible tasks, teams, and projects
  • Facilitate meetings with the client, vendor, and team
  • Provide frequent, clear, and consistent communication to the client, team members, vendor, and direct reports (if any)
  • Perform assigned administrative tasks efficiently and effectively, asking questions when instructions are unclear
