About The Position

As a leading turnkey specialty contractor specializing in Automation, Electric, Energy, and Power Services, Knobelsdorff is looking for an intern to assist in planning and overseeing multiple solar projects simultaneously. The intern will be involved in project and contract execution, scheduling, budgeting, and ensuring safety compliance on site. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a variety of industries while working closely with project teams and clients.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an education in Project Management.
  • Ability to work in Goodhue, MN location 5 days/week.
  • Ability to report progress daily to the leadership team.
  • Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to work on some out-of-town projects.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and overseeing multiple solar projects simultaneously.
  • Project and contract execution.
  • Schedule and plan the project’s construction, understanding required people, materials, and equipment.
  • Report project budget and status updates to the GM.
  • Ensure site team has necessary safety materials and follows safety procedures.
  • Interface with clients regarding project status, change orders, billing, and deliverables.
  • Order and track materials and equipment to ensure timely arrival.
  • Keep project schedule up to date and ensure critical milestones are met.
  • Work with Engineering on submittals, RFIs, and site buildability.
  • Conduct kickoff meetings with the project team.
  • Review contracts with Pre-Construction and Estimating teams.
  • Develop feasible project schedules based on customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with Construction Managers for equipment and personnel needs.
  • Provide feedback to field personnel on timelines versus actual completions.
  • Coordinate with site Construction Manager for safety materials and reports.
  • Create, submit, and track change orders.
  • Review financials weekly, analyzing cost codes and ensuring accuracy.
  • Submit SOV forms monthly to accounts payable.
  • Manage project close-out requirements and ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Address and close customer punch list items.
  • Request quotes for sub-contracted items and assign contracts.
  • Schedule lessons learned meetings with customers.
  • Provide feedback to Pre-Construction and Estimating teams.
  • Lead project close-out meetings with relevant teams.
  • Track material and equipment orders.
  • Clarify customer requirements with Engineering and Pre-Construction.
  • Observe kickoff meetings to cover project scope and performance goals.
  • Perform regular site visits to engage with field personnel.
