About The Position

IT Project Manager – PMO & Strategic Initiatives Position Summary The IT Project Manager is responsible for leading complex technology initiatives while helping to establish, mature, and standardize Project Management Office (PMO) processes across the organization. This role partners closely with IT and business leaders to deliver strategic initiatives that align with organizational goals, improve execution discipline, and increase visibility into project performance and outcomes. The ideal candidate is both a hands-on project manager and a PMO builder - someone who can manage high-impact initiatives while designing governance, standards, and best practices that scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience managing IT projects, including enterprise or strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience helping to establish, improve, or scale PMO processes and governance.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives with competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP, Agile Scrum Master, SAFe, or similar project management certification.
  • Experience with portfolio management and executive reporting.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira).
  • Experience working in a matrixed or transformation-focused environment.
  • Background in IT or digital transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and mature PMO processes, standards, templates, and tools to support consistent project execution across IT and business teams.
  • Define and implement project governance structures, including intake, prioritization, stage gates, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) aligned to organizational needs.
  • Create standardized artifacts such as project charters, business cases, risk registers, schedules, and status reports.
  • Drive adoption of PMO practices through coaching, training, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support portfolio management by providing visibility into project health, capacity, dependencies, risks, and benefits realization.
  • Lead cross-functional, enterprise-level initiatives with high visibility and complexity.
  • Partner with executive sponsors and business leaders to define scope, objectives, success metrics, and outcomes.
  • Translate strategic goals into executable project plans and roadmaps.
  • Proactively manage risks, issues, dependencies, and change to ensure successful delivery.
  • Ensure initiatives deliver measurable business value and align with strategic priorities.
  • Facilitate executive-level communication, decision-making, and escalation as needed.
  • Plan, execute, monitor, and close IT projects in accordance with PMO standards.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, resources, and vendor engagements.
  • Lead and motivate cross-functional project teams without direct authority.
  • Ensure clear communication of project status, milestones, risks, and impacts to stakeholders.
  • Apply continuous improvement practices based on lessons learned and project retrospectives.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to IT leadership, business stakeholders, and executive sponsors.
  • Balance competing priorities across multiple initiatives while maintaining delivery discipline.
  • Influence change by promoting transparency, accountability, and outcomes-based execution.
