About The Position

Project Manager 2 leads construction projects in support of the Laboratory’s mission, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution. This role manages project scope, schedule, and budget, provides oversight to Superintendent 2 personnel, and serves as a Control Account Manager (CAM) when assigned. The PM2 directs work teams, assesses risks, develops mitigation strategies, and provides technical guidance on safety, health, and environmental compliance while maintaining effective stakeholder engagement.

Requirements

  • Recognized degree in engineering, scientific discipline, or specialized coursework in project management 
  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience, including at least five (5) years in engineering, procurement, or construction management, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Nuclear experiencerequired
  • Ability to obtain DOE Q Clearance 
  • Proven leadership and management skills, including planning, organizing, and directing work teams
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong communicationand organizational skills
  • Ability to work through problems quickly and effectively and define a clear path to resolution

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced knowledge of construction project management, systems engineering, and work control processes 
  • Demonstrated experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), cost/schedule control, and variance analysis 
  • Strong problem-solving, risk assessment, and project recovery planning skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including reporting to senior leadership and federal sponsors

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage construction projects to ensuretimely, safe, and compliant completion
  • Provide oversight and guidance to Superintendent 2 personnel 
  • Serve as a Control Account Manager (CAM) for scope, schedule, budget, and performance tracking 
  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget, including EVMSutilizationand variance analysis with corrective action implementation 
  • Investigate incidents or accidents,identifyroot causes, and support corrective actions 
  • Lead constructability reviews andidentifyproject risks with mitigation or avoidance strategies 
  • Direct and manage work teams, including scheduling, resource allocation, and progress tracking 
  • Collaborate with customers, leadership, and project teams to resolve project challenges 
  • Provideleadership and technical guidance on health, safety, and environmental compliance 
  • Prepare and present oral and written reports on project status to stakeholders, leadership, and regulatory bodies
