Why This Role Matters The Washington Post is embarking on a multi-year financial transformation project. We are seeking a highly organized and technically savvy Project Manager of Financial Systems to join a newly formed team dedicated to evaluating and executing our long-term financial systems strategy. The centerpiece of this role will be helping lead the transition from our current legacy systems to a modern ERP environment. You won’t just be "tracking tasks"—you will be the connective tissue between Finance, Engineering, and our vendors, ensuring that our strategic vision is translated into operational reality.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in financial systems project management.
  • Technical Literacy: Deep familiarity with enterprise-level financial ecosystems. You should be "fluent" in several of the following: Oracle EBS, SAP, Salesforce, Boostr, Blackline, Workday (HCM and Financials), or specialized media billing systems.
  • Execution Focus: A proven track record of managing large-scale system migrations or implementations from discovery to go-live.
  • The "Soft" Skills: Exceptional ability to translate complex technical jargon into plain English for finance stakeholders and vice-versa.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry Knowledge: Prior experience in the media industry (Print and Digital) is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Workflow Orchestration: Define and manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables for the ERP replacement and secondary system integrations.
  • Meeting & Communication Management: Lead project meetings, document key decisions, and ensure follow-up actions are completed by stakeholders across Finance and Engineering.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Act as the primary point of contact for internal teams and external vendors to ensure requirements are met and risks are mitigated.
  • Process Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including workflow diagrams, business requirement documents (BRDs), and status reports.
  • Change Management: Support the Finance team through the transition, ensuring that workflows remain functional while migrating from legacy print-based systems to modern digital-first platforms.
