About The Position

Position responsible for Managing and facilitating the progress and results of multiple projects of low to medium complexity by assuring compliance with the City's goals, budget, schedule and quality expectations. Provides technical expertise in the areas of hazardous materials management, site contamination assessment and remediation for environmental projects of various City departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, and/or a related field, and a minimum of one (1) year experience in environmental field is required.
  • Any combination of education and experience in environmental management/planning equal to 5 years is acceptable.
  • Effective oral and written communication is required.
  • Ability to obtain 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with, program management, contract management, policy development and public outreach is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for responding to and evaluating the various environmental needs and/or requests of other City departments and/or agencies.
  • Provide "as needed" technical environmental assistance to users of OES administered environmental contracts or other City projects with environmental components
  • Provides project management by monitoring, evaluating, and coordinating services provided by an outside consultant(s).
  • Oversees administrative aspects of contract management, such as, project budgets, contract billing, and reporting.
  • Evaluates environmental data and/or site conditions for new or on-going environmental projects in order to provide technical environmental assistance and make appropriate environmental recommendations to user departments or City staff.
  • Assists in the oversight and evaluation of Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), subsurface soil and groundwater investigations, hazardous waste characterization and disposal, contaminant delineations, underground storage/leaking underground storage /aboveground storage tank management, Corrective Action Plans (CAP), remediation system feasibility studies, corrective action/remediation implementation and other environmental services as needed.
  • Responsible for assisting in making applicable environmental laws and regulations understandable to other City departments as needed.
  • Provide input to State and Federal agencies in drafting responses to proposed laws, regulations, and projects within the City, and in the participation in regulatory work groups.
