About The Position

The Project Manager leads the identification, planning, and delivery of Electric Distribution work bundles to improve customer experience, operational efficiency, and capital performance. This role manages the full lifecycle of bundled work, from design and permitting through construction and closeout, ensuring projects stay on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards. Distribution Programs is also responsible for running the ongoing programs that proactively maintain reliability for CenterPoint’s electrical distribution grid such as asset inspections, proactive replacements, and other similar programs. The Project Manager is responsible for using data analytics to monitor and report on Projects and other contractor activities, find issues, recommend process improvements, and ensure smooth operation of programs.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, construction management, finance, accounting, economics, statistics, supply chain, or a related business or technical field. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of five years of experience in the electric utility industry or in project management may be substituted.
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years experience in the electric operations, finance, and/or project management.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and group Electric Distribution work that can be designed and executed together to improve efficiency.
  • Become subject matter expert for specific proactive programs
  • Sequence work based on materials, crews, outages, permitting needs, and seasonal constraints.
  • Manage the end‑to‑end lifecycle of each work bundle with clear ownership, accountability, and schedule tracking.
  • Monitor design, permitting, materials readiness, contractor scheduling, outage planning, customer notifications, field execution, and closeout.
  • Monitor progress against milestone plans and resolve issues that threaten timelines or scope.
  • Manage risks, issues, and changes to plan, includes assessing impacts, proposing options, and driving leadership / cross-functional alignment where needed
  • Track financial performance and assist with accruing monthly costs.
  • Maintain strong contractor and internal team relationships
  • Provide concise, timely communication to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Analyze data from SAP and Business Warehouse to identify trends, support forecasting, and improve planning accuracy.
  • Maintain reporting tools, dashboards, and visualizations for budgets, milestones, and program performance.
  • Support development and improvement of processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Conduct lessons‑learned reviews and integrate improvements into future work.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Lead or participate in additional projects as assigned and traveling to job sites, contractor locations, and industry events as needed.
