The Project Manager is responsible for end-to-end delivery of New Product Development (NPD) and value engineering initiatives for separations consumables, leading cross-functional teams through scope definition, integrated planning, execution, and risk management to achieve timeline, budget, quality, and regulatory/design control requirements. This role operates in a matrix environment, drives stage-gate/tollgate rigor, and communicates clear status, risks, and decisions to functional and senior leaders. Partners daily with R&D, Product Management, Marketing, Manufacturing/Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Finance to plan and deliver programs; interfaces with senior leadership to align priorities, escalate decisions, and maintain execution discipline. This position reports to the Senior Manager, PMO and is part of the R&D Department located in Torrance, CA. This role is designated as U.S.-Remote.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in life science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field (advanced degree a plus) along with preference for 5+ years of experience in one of the following disciplines: product development, R&D, operations, and/or life science consumables environment (hands on exposure to experimental workflows/data-driven development).
  • Project management experience: Prefer 3+ years in project management, including at least one product development program delivered to launch (or equivalent lifecycle release).
  • Regulated / design control: Experience running stage‑gate/design control in a regulated development/manufacturing environment (e.g., ISO‑based QMS).
  • Tools / methods: Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) plus MS Project (or equivalent scheduling tool); demonstrated use of risk management methods to translate technical uncertainty into executable plans.
  • On-site attendance will be required as business needs dictate (e.g., onboarding programs, key team meetings, program workshops, kaizen/training events, and milestone reviews).

Nice To Haves

  • PMP certification (or equivalent formal PM training) and experience applying Lean / DBS tools (e.g., VPM and PSP).
  • Demonstrated project delivery experience within life sciences/diagnostics and/or separations/chromatography consumables.
  • Experience with risk management / risk reduction and translating VOC into clear product requirement specifications (PRS) and executable plans.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver NPD and value engineering programs from concept through launch, meeting scope, schedule, budget, and QMS requirements.
  • Drive stage-gate / tollgate execution by defining clear deliverables, ensuring decision readiness, and documenting outcomes.
  • Build and run the integrated project plan (schedule, critical path, resources, dependencies), proactively managing risks/issues with countermeasures to protect on-time delivery.
  • Establish project governance & stakeholder alignment (cadence, action tracking, decision logs, comms), including coordination of external vendors/partners as needed.
  • Own performance reporting & continuous improvement (RAG, milestones, cost/capex forecasts, escalations), applying DBS/structured problem-solving and ensuring design control/compliant documentation.
