About The Position

Provide direct support to the Director of Engineering and Capital Projects and management of multiple healthcare-related Capital Projects involving all phases of planning, design and construction through the project life cycle. Responsible for day-to-day project management, develop requests for proposals (RFPs), review consultant and contractor proposals and invoices, actively communicate status of scope, schedule, and cost, perform on-site inspection of contractor’s work, maintain updated project records. Lead small to medium-scale construction projects from planning through completion as project and construction manager and assist with various phases of major projects. Effectively coordinate the activities of the project and communicate with project stakeholders, contractor, consultants, Director and Administrative leadership. Requirements

  • Project management principles related to the engineering, design, and construction of healthcare facilities.
  • Project documentation including project management software and scheduling software.
  • Principles of engineering and construction of healthcare facilities for rural communities.
  • Principles and practices of funding capital infrastructure projects.
  • Developing and managing consultant and construction contract scopes of work.
  • Commercial construction standards, applicable codes, and practices for healthcare,
  • OSHA and other safety requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to think well under pressure

  • Advanced Degree or equivilant training and experience in required field in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management or related field

  • 3 year(s) supervisory experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple healthcare-related Capital Projects in collaboration with the Director, funding agencies, design engineers, construction personnel and other project management staff.
  • Provide leadership, direction and guidance to the project team and stakeholders throughout project development, design and construction phase.
  • Review general engineering design concepts in consultation with the design staff and guide the design options ensuring project meets program requirements.
  • Assist with preparing budgets and reviewing proposals, estimates, change orders and field orders, contract documents and plans for technical merit and construction feasibility.
  • Provide project planning and coordination for project scope and schedule with contractors, architects, and engineers. Create and maintain project timeline, ensure milestones and deadlines are met and adjust schedules to address issues.
  • Ensure that all necessary permits are obtained and construction inspections and testing are performed.
  • Develop and maintain all project documents, track progress using standardized project management tools and complete progress reports, including tracing expenses and control costs, review bids, contracts, permits, tracking request for information (RFI), submittals and change orders.
  • Perform quality control/quality assurance for all project related activities, including inspection to ensure work meets plans, specifications and codes. and develop, manage and monitor project budgets and contracts.
  • Coordinate and/or inspect work performed by contractors and/or in-house crews and prepare punch-list items.
  • Serve as primary point of contact between contractor, design team and owner stakeholders and provide progress updates, conflict resolution and reports to Director.
  • Assist with project closeout including final punch list items, financial reviews, grant closeout, transfers of ownership and prepare project closeout documentation.
  • Oversee design, construction and other NSHC staff in absence of the Director.
  • Assist with analyzing, interpreting and writing reports of project findings and updates to be presented to Administration and Board of Directors
  • Turn over completed Capital Projects to Plant Operations and/or Village Maintenance Directors, providing guidance on systems function.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
