Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, or related degree and 8 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Must hold a Professional Engineering license.
  • Experience managing engineering services and EPC projects focused on at least one of the following technologies: Substation or overhead or underground Transmission.
  • Must have experience with negotiating contracts with clients in the energy utility industry.
  • Must have experience with managing construction teams directly in both a direct-hire or subcontract construction environment.
  • Must have experience with managing risk for EPC Transmission & Distribution or Substation projects.
  • Must have experience with utility-scale Transmission & Distribution or Substation market.
  • Must have experience with leading larger production teams; coordinating multiple discipline activity; and serving as the responsible charge for a project.
  • National travel required up to 50% travel to project and client sites.
  • Telecommuting is permissible within a reasonable commuting distance from Walnut Creek BV office.
  • Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the execution hub for clients and project teams, providing leadership and alignment for successful electric grid projects.
  • Oversee collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work.
  • Actively coordinate with all other internal/external team members on projects.
  • Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on projects.
  • Typically provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
  • Actively foster knowledge management and provides mentoring.
  • Serve as the key resource for executive management advisory on overall project health.
  • Oversee planning, developing, issuing, and progress tracking of all assigned projects from contract execution through commercial operation.
  • Work with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction to identify and resolve problems or issues related to design information, schedule, material deliveries, change management, safety, and quality.
  • Manage escalated problems or issues.
  • Own commercial recovery process and close-out.
  • Manage the application of quality and control procedures.
  • Direct complex projects requiring global resources and multiple partners.
  • Manage multiple clients and/or accountable for implementing expanded new business objectives.
  • Oversee and deliver opportunities for new/repeat business, finalizing key contract negotiations with client executives.
  • Manage broad and varied complex risk profile.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day successful execution of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC)/engineering services scopes in the areas of performance, financial metrics, planning, schedule, quality, contractual compliance, safety, and client satisfaction.
  • Function in a lead role.
  • Manage and lead larger production teams of multi-discipline professionals; coordinate multiple discipline activity; and serve as the responsible charge for a project.
  • May provide technical guidance over a group on projects.
  • Provide input for the successful staffing of the project.
  • Provide recommendations on aspects of hiring and firing.
