About The Position

DutiesDevelop cost and schedule estimates and provide proposals on potential projects at RFP stage. Conduct induction and kick-off meetings with assigned professionals on projects where proposals and estimates were performed. Provide various transmission line solutions for client needs. Provide design solutions that enable high voltage lines and their supporting structures to deliver the necessary power to and between substations. Perform modelling analysis and investigation of existing lines to identify any problems with the line using our modelling software, “PLS-CADD.” Address any issues found in the model before checking that the solution adheres to all NESC code requirements, FAA requirements, and practical limitations caused by the surrounding environment. Perform significant consultation and communication with client to best address concerns and preferences. Develop original structural designs and analyze existing designs to ensure structures are capable of withstanding operational and weather-inflicted loads. Develop and model stringing solutions that adhere to NESC code clearance requirements, all permit specific requirements (including but not limited to FAA, DOT, EGLE, Railroad), and client specifications and standards. Develop and model structural solutions that meet current-use needs for clients while facilitating constructability for future-use upgrades or flexibility in asset planning; structural solutions must also adhere to NESC code requirements, all permit specific requirements, and client specifications and standards. Proactive coordination and record-keeping with all nearby utilities and permitting groups is highly important during design and modeling to prevent conflicts and ensure the success of all subsequent phases of projects. Ensure that engineering design provides minimal disruption to local surroundings at both construction and in-service stage. Sketch up all relevant construction drawings using values and designs from the previously modelled solution and send to technicians to draft official prints. Provide construction deliverables including, but not limited to, Project Summary, Project Description, Construction List, Staking Table, Material Record, Tracking Sheet, GIS, Unitization Report, Foundation Calculations. Perform production of full design packages on assigned projects. Perform backchecks on other designers’ work, as well as advise other engineers throughout projects you estimated and proposed.  Oversee Structural Engineers.  No hire/fire authority.  Applicants for this position must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require employer sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (i.e., H-1B visa, TN visa or any other non-immigrant status).RequirementsMaster’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline, plus at least three years of related experience, or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline, plus at least five years of related experience.
