About The Position

The Project Management Specialist, housed in the SAC, serves as a project lead for the Criminal Justice Data Warehouse (JDW) project authorized through the 2023 Montana Legislative Session. The JDW contributes to the comprehensive and cohesive criminal justice system to aid efforts in resource allocation, policy changes, and aims to enhance outcomes for both offenders and crime victims. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management, or related field
  • Four years of experience managing projects
  • Other combinations of education or experience may be substituted
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-agency and/or multi-vendor projects
  • Ability to: Communicate complex ideas to a broad array of audiences
  • Navigate stakeholder complexities to maintain project momentum
  • Establish and maintain effective professional relationships
  • Prioritize a complex workload and meet project deadlines
  • Juggle many multiple stakeholder groups in a large project (over 50 unique entities)
  • Ensure risks associated with project activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled
  • This position requires the successful completion of a criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • PMP or similar project management certification
  • Experience with criminal justice agencies and/or data systems
  • Effective facilitation experience and ability to influence

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of the integrated data warehouse project
  • Serve as a primary point of contact between participating agencies and vendors
  • Partner or collaborate with multiple stakeholder organizations, agencies, and vendors (e.g., criminal justice entities across all 56 counties, state level agencies, and 10+ different vendors)
  • Facilitate regular stakeholder meetings, status updates, and decision-making sessions
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with local law enforcement, state agencies, and vendor partners
  • Translate technical requirements into actionable plans for non-technical stakeholders
  • Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, risk assessments, and resource allocations
  • Track milestones and deliverables using project management tools
  • Prepare progress reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Support grant reporting and performance measurement as needed
