About The Position

The Project Manager Co-Op position at FirstEnergy offers students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the electric utility sector. This full-time co-op role is designed for individuals pursuing degrees in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or related fields. Participants will engage in various project management tasks, supporting the Transmission group while developing professional skills through a structured development program.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a four-year accredited college or university.
• Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, Project Management, Business, Finance, Construction Management, or a similar field.

Nice To Haves

• Previous internship or co-op experience in project management or engineering.
• Familiarity with project management software and tools.

Responsibilities

• Review project documents for clarity and completeness, including bid packages and engineering work requests.
• Assist in monitoring project and contract budgets, reporting cost variances and forecasts.
• Coordinate change management requests for project scope, schedule, and costs as directed by the Project Manager.
• Participate in and document weekly coordination meetings with contractors and engineers.
• Monitor contractor resource levels and report findings.
• Understand contract terms and associated documentation.
• Support the Project Manager in conducting project challenge meetings and peer reviews.
• Assist in developing, updating, and issuing project schedules.
• Help identify additional resources needed to meet project scope or schedule.
• Maintain project files for accurate information retrieval during project closeout.
• Coordinate completion of close-out documentation and assist in lessons-learned meetings.
