NV5 is seeking a full-time Project Historians for our Alpharetta, GA office to assist with historic architectural surveys and other duties as assigned. Responsibilities of the position(s) will include surveying and documenting historic buildings and structures in the field, writing architectural descriptions, conducting background research, and developing historical contexts. The Project Historian reports to the Cultural Resources Group Manager.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in historic preservation, architectural history, or a closely related field required; Masters Degree in same related fields preferred
• Meet Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications for Architectural Historian (36 Code of Federal Regulations, CFR Part 61)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently, multi-task, and maintain high level of productivity

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of Georgia history and built environment a plus
• GIS skills a plus

Responsibilities

• Deployments to conduct architectural surveys in urban and rural environments.
• Conduct fieldwork and survey of historic built resources, including field assessments, background research, and photography.
• Develop building descriptions and research and complete historical contexts.
• Manage project performance and coordinate with a variety of colleagues, clients, agencies, and the public.
• Maintain effective and successful communication with project team, co-workers, and clients.
