AECOM has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level Geologist or Environmental Scientist to join our team in Columbia, SC. We are seeking candidates who will be able to immediately contribute to the successful delivery of existing projects. You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting, design, and implementation services to our key clients. AECOM is seeking a candidate who has a technical background in the environmental investigation/remediation consulting industry in South Carolina, particularly with experience in the retail petroleum sector working with the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) SUPERB Fund, who would like to grow their career into becoming an Environmental Project Manager. Additionally, the candidate would be willing to assist AECOM project managers similar projects in South Carolina. Responsibilities for this position may include the following: Preparation of written reports for projects regulated under the SUPERB program at the Underground Storage Tank Division of SCDES: Assessment Reports (IGWA, Tier I, and Tier II), Groundwater Monitoring Reports, Site Check Reports, and UST System Removal and Replacement Reports. Task management and lead teams for field activities consisting of air, soil vapor, soil, and groundwater sample collection, geologic logging (unconsolidated sediments and bedrock), and interpretation. Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop remedial approaches for soil and groundwater impact, including feasibility studies, removal action work plans, and remediation design plans. Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance. Preparation and implementation of work plans, cost estimates, data compilation/analysis, and report preparation. Preparation of proposals and cost estimates for new opportunities. Execute fieldwork by directing and overseeing individual or multiple contractors (laboratory, drillers, surveyors, excavation contractors). Liaison with site facilities, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders. Health and safety planning and hazard recognition. Good interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable meeting with clients, regulatory case managers, colleagues, and sub-contractors alike. Overnight Travel, roughly around 25 percent of the time.
