Your Opportunity The role of the Geologist is to perform tasks and assignments associated with geotechnical and geological assessments, hydrogeological studies, subsurface investigations; sampling of soil, sediment, surface water, and groundwater; data interpretation/evaluation and deliverable preparation.

Requirements

  • The ability to effectively communicate project status to project manager and appropriate staff.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Be an advocate for health, safety, and clients.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • A valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • The ability and willingness to travel regionally, but mostly in Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia up to 50 percent of time.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug and alcohol screening.
  • Working knowledge of field sampling techniques.
  • A Bachelor's or Associate degree in geology or related field.
  • 0-3 years of geotechnical consulting industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee advancement of soil and rock borings, including installation of groundwater monitoring wells and other downhole instrumentation.
  • Prepare soil boring log and well construction diagrams.
  • Perform site inspection of earthwork during construction.
  • Conduct field inspections and assessments of geohazards, such as landslides, rockfall, and abandoned mining features.
  • Learn and follow standard operating procedures for work assigned.
  • Demonstrate ability to analyze field and technical data.
  • Draft technical reports.
  • Complete applicable company and client required health & safety training (including OSHA required training) and follow health & safety policies and procedures.
