Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related discipline is preferred
  • 15 + years of construction experience with extensive experience in a senior management role
  • Experience with Preservation and Renovations across multi building NYCHA campuses is required.
  • Ability and willingness to take full ownership of their projects and work autonomously towards completion
  • Creative thinker and solutions driven individual who can collaborate with team members, executives, shareholders, as well as other internal and external parties
  • Strong ability to multi-task and demonstrate excellent quantitative, organizational and communication skills
  • Strong leadership and people development skills; proficient in providing project staff feedback effectively.
  • Experience hiring, staffing, and overseeing comprehensive project team consisting of administration, accounting, project management and field project superintendent staff
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and codes related to construction in New York City
  • Knowledge of construction trades and respective unions, nonunion and prevailing wage classifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel Project, and Word) and Procure
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to have strong interpersonal skills to support leadership, management, negotiation, and problem-solving functions of this role
  • Knowledge of organizational and management practices related to the analysis and evaluation of construction projects, project programs, policies, and operational needs
  • Ability to safely navigate a construction site which will include the following: climbing ladders and stairs, use of job hoists, inclement weather conditions, hazardous/cluttered and dark areas

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity of Design Build projects a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee construction project through project completion.
  • Work closely with owners and design & development teams through project completion.
  • Manage construction budgets and schedules.
  • Establish work plans and staffing for the project.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Review status reports prepared by project personnel and modified schedules or plans as required.
  • Coordinate project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
  • Establish cross-functional communication between one or more of the following: Architect, Site Engineer and Subcontractors, Environmental Geotechnical Engineer, and Site Safety Manager.
  • Communicate with development team deliverable expectations and oversee the timely completion of milestones.
  • Attend Contractor Shop-Drawing coordination meetings and weekly or biweekly meetings at construction site and/or design office.
  • Review construction documents, write construction trades Scopes of Work and prepare bid comparison analysis.
  • Review contractors’ monthly requisitions to align with project budget and percentage of work in place.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
