Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in the nuclear or energy sector.
  • Professional experience in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Sage Estimating) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional knowledge of nuclear construction processes, materials, and regulatory requirements.
  • Professional experience with cost control and project controls principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in cost estimating (e.g., AACE International's Certified Estimating Professional, Certified Cost Professional).
  • Experience with large capital projects or government-regulated construction environments.
  • Knowledge of nuclear safety protocols and quality assurance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive cost estimates for nuclear power construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather project requirements and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Analyze technical drawings, material take-offs and specifications to determine project scope and estimate costs accurately.
  • Prepare detailed bid proposals and participate in contract negotiations with clients and vendors.
  • Monitor and update cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle to reflect changes in scope or market conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies in all estimating activities.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide contingency recommendations for project budgets.
  • Maintain a database of historical cost data and market trends to improve future estimating accuracy.
