About The Position

Lead and support engineering projects to improve operational performance within a papermill manufacturing environment. This role focuses on equipment upgrades, process optimization, automation, and capital improvement initiatives. We’re seeking a hands-on Project Engineer with experience in paper, pulp, wood, board, or similar continuous manufacturing environments who can collaborate with operations, maintenance, and vendors to implement technical solutions. This is a highly visible role with direct impact on reliability, efficiency, and operational performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, Operations, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, engineering, or project management, preferably within a plant environment.
  • Proven track record leading cross-functional projects in manufacturing or industrial settings.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficient in project management tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent) and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; able to lead through influence in a matrixed environment.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP certification or Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, execution, and completion of site-level projects aligned with corporate priorities, managing timelines, budgets, resources, and risks.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts across manufacturing, CI, maintenance, engineering, quality, materials, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Drive Lean, process improvement, and automation initiatives in partnership with CI and automation teams.
  • Apply project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, DMAIC) to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to corporate standards.
  • Serve as primary liaison with the Head of Operations Development for project updates, escalations, and strategic alignment.
  • Facilitate meetings and stakeholder communications to ensure transparency and informed decision-making.
  • Develop business cases, ROI analyses, and progress reports, supporting prioritization and approval of capital investments.
  • Ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance when integrating new equipment and systems into workflows.
