About The Position

The Project Engineer will manage capital and maintenance projects for Ergon's Corporate Engineering department. Projects typically range in size from $50,000-$5,000,000. The person will work closely with Facility Management and Business Unit Operations personnel to initiate and guide the scoping, estimating, and execution planning for capital projects.

  • Experience: 2 years of project engineering, project management, and/or general industrial experience is preferred

  • Experience in the oil refinery industry is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as project engineer for planned and unplanned responsibilities consisting of scope development, detailed design, budget development, contractor selection, and project execution oversight.
  • Develop scope of work documents, cost estimates, and schedules for multiple capital projects simultaneously.
  • Develop strong working relationships with co-workers, facility managers, consultants, contractors, etc.
  • Provide project leadership to achieve the highest levels of safety, cost control, quality, engineering, procurement, construction, and team dynamics.
  • Prepare and/or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, etc.
  • Design, specify, and/or select mechanical systems, equipment, and instrumentation related to process and/or storage applications.
  • Develop Authorization for Expenditure (AFEs) to request funding approval from management.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety laws related to projects.
  • Manage contractor selection process and oversee construction activities
  • Participate in PSSR, commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Develop design standards, department tools/procedures, training material, etc.
  • Oversee project close-out and documentation turnover.
  • Develop and track project KPIs.
