About The Position

Craig Technologies has an opening for a Biomedical Engineer at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. In this role, you play a pivotal part in the successful execution of projects and delivery of hardware to NASA/JSC in support of exploration missions. Supporting the Space Suit and Crew Survival Systems Branch (EC5), you will develop and verify project requirements, perform development, engineering evaluation, qualification and acceptance testing, certification, delivery, and sustaining of project hardware. You serve as the hardware expert and technical point of contact for the Project Manager within the HHPC Engineering Department. You Will: Strategize, Oversee, and Participate in hands-on development activities Write Task Performance Sheet and Disposition of Discrepancy Reports Generate, review and understanding engineering drawings Analyze test results, produce detailed reports, and recommend design improvements Support Human-In-The-Loop testing Coordinate multiple highly technical and complex development threads within the context of and in pursuit of the success of larger projects Distill high-level project goals into discrete project tasks to ensure project successful completion on schedule Lead the review of lunar dust mitigation strategies for internal systems and EVA operations, performing contamination control analysis, and helping to develop verification plans for dust-related requirements What You Bring: You bring experience in space suit design, softgoods components fabrication, testing of suit hardware, and lunar dust mitigation strategies. You use your experience to troubleshoot hardware assemblies, test setup, optimize processes for manufacturing. You will also perform root cause analysis, failure investigation, risk management, and apply lessons learned. You comply with KBR’s Safety, Health and Environmental Plan, Quality Plan, and all safety policies and procedures, and complete all assigned training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience
  • 3+ years of experience in development of space hardware design or similar work with Human Landing System or other NASA/JSC exploration programs (e.g. Orion)
  • Experience with lunar dust testing and mitigation in spaceflight hardware
  • Experience with configuration and data management processes and submitting Change Requests
  • Experience with manufacturing, test, and troubleshooting of hardware
  • Experience with root cause analysis and failure investigation
  • Effective communication with the project, other engineers, technical support staff, NASA vendors, and quality engineering
  • Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Able to develop and clearly communicate information to technical forums
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and test space suits and related hardware
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including project reports and technical memos
  • Familiarity with NASA Flight Hardware development requirements and processes
  • Effective at handling multiple tasks, flexible, and responding quickly to change
