This role ensures that all engineering initiatives are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in alignment with corporate engineering standards. The position provides technical leadership, oversees vendor and contractor performance, ensures regulatory compliance, and drives continuous improvement within plant operations. This role reports into the Engineering & Maintenance Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment; prior supervisory or project leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership abilities with the capability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, urgency, and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to make critical decisions, communicate rationale, and ensure alignment across departments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand equipment capabilities, limitations, and maintenance needs.
  • Proficiency in SAP/mii, SPC, FMS, CAD tools, CEAV systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, equipment specifications, and technical documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in blow-molding or injection-molding environments is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership & Management Point person on the full lifecycle of engineering projects—from concept development and scoping to execution, commissioning, and closure.
  • Takes project vision into actionable plans using MOC (Management of Change) processes, Executive Summaries, timelines, and structured documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with plant stake holders to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and project governance.
  • Develop, Executive Summaries including scope, resources, budget, technical requirements, ROI rationale, and supporting data (analytics, lean analysis, time studies, etc.).
  • Prepare CEAVs with clear justification, cost modeling, and spend allocation (corporate vs. plant).
  • Vendor & Contractor Management Oversee vendor selection, quotation processes, contract negotiation, and performance evaluation.
  • Maintain strong working relationships to ensure adherence to Amcor Nicholasville safety, quality, and performance standards.
  • Financial & Administrative Oversight Manage project budgets, capital planning, and cost tracking through SAP and related systems.
  • Create and monitor PO Requisitions, project cost forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in SAP/mii, CEAV Database (Lotus Notes), and related tools.
  • Technical Leadership & Continuous Improvement Provide mechanical and technical guidance across engineering, maintenance, and production teams.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in efficiency, safety, quality, and reliability; recommend and implement solutions.
  • Lead or support Lean/Six Sigma programs, including Kaizen facilitation and problem-solving initiatives.
  • Support development of SOPs, Work Instructions, and training materials.
  • Safety & Compliance Ensure all projects comply with plant and corporate safety policies, regulatory requirements, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Promote a culture of safety and communicate hazards proactively.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe contractor management throughout project activities.
  • May assist with Engineering and Maintenance, or other tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment consistent with company expectations.
