About The Position

Provide technical and engineering support for projects including - but not limited to – design, pricing, drafting, and scheduling. SUMMARY: The Project Engineer will review customer drawings and specifications and determine which products fall in the company’s line of work. They will work closely with production and planning to determine means and methods of production and associated costs with it. They will be heavily involved with creating approval drawings for customers that have been designed and engineered to comply with required building codes and engineering standards. They will work closely with project managers to troubleshoot problems as they arise and offer recommendations to fix issues. Requirements

  • 4-year engineering degree or combination of experience and education.
  • Must have strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, Solidworks, inventor, or other similar 3-D CAD experience a plus.
  • Must be results-oriented and have to ability to effectively communicate across multiple levels within the company.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with metals, welding symbols, and manufacturing processes a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Read specifications, drawings, and other applicable documents to determine the correct scope of work.
  • Build relationships with customers through clear and regular communication.
  • Seek information concerning the disposition of quotes for purposes of, among other things, gaining feedback on the scope of work, pricing, and design considerations.
  • Recommend appropriate products based on a review of specific customer needs.
  • Determine quantities, costs, and products on individual projects.
  • Accurately draw and design products through CAD programs to convey project scope, including accurate dimensions, to customers and shop personnel.
  • Develop bills of material, material take-offs, tolerance and dimensioning of products, welding and manufacturing symbols, and other requirements to produce products.
  • Design and draw metal products that conform to project and customer specifications and production capabilities.
  • Perform engineering calculations to ensure products conform to loading requirements.
  • Participates in overall product strategy, development, and manufacturing coordination for new, existing, and emerging products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional groups (Manufacturing, Logistics, Accounting, and suppliers) to resolve product-related customer and production issues. Interface with teams that address quality, new product introduction, capacity issues, purchasing, and planning.
