About The Position

Novelis Oswego has a great opportunity for a Project Engineer! The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting and leading the subsequent execution of projects within schedule and budget until hand over to operations is completed. This role also contributes to the company goals by supporting or - depending on project size and experience - managing the development of Large Capital Projects from Planning Concept (FEL-1) through Detailed Feasibility Study (FEL-2) and FEED Study (FEL-3) to the project approval.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • Deep knowledge of project management, technical aspects of installations and process
  • Problem solving, critical thinking, ability to communicate

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree or equivalent
  • Second language in Portuguese, Korean, Chinese or German is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the operational needs, project drivers, appropriate building codes/regulations and the relationship between the process and the facilities
  • Assist the project manager/superintendent in creating milestone, preliminary or detailed schedules in MS Project and distributing the project schedule
  • Create, manage and track RFI’s from the field to the architect/engineer of record; originate new or modify existing historical specifications for the RFI or RFQ process
  • Generate rough order of magnitude to funding level estimates during the planning phases
  • Determine cost estimates, monitoring costs and monthly subcontractor billings and pay applications
  • Determine impact of process parameter on equipment design.
  • Evaluate and consider equipment (design) impact on product quality
  • Lead or support in the determination of equipment and facilities required for each project, starting with the Concept Phase
  • Review plans and other technical documents, manage all project and site safety documentation, records and coordination
  • Continually communicate and document progress, scope and timing of projects with all team members at all levels in a clear, timely and concise fashion via weekly meetings, discussions or as necessary
  • Assist with appropriate state, local and building permits for the project, conflict resolution between Novelis, contractor and subcontractor, and closing out pf the project
  • Coordinate project change-order management, creation and negotiation
  • Turn in submittals from subcontractors to CM/EOR for approval

  • This role’s salary starts from $75,000 per year . Individual pay will vary based on qualifications, experience, and performance.
  • In addition to base salary, this position includes participation in a short-term incentive plan (Annual Incentive Plan - AIP or Plant Performance incentive - PPI).
