You are an experienced Project Engineer with deep technical expertise and a strong understanding of how technology supports business objectives. You thrive in a fast paced, client facing environment and enjoy designing, implementing, and supporting complex IT solutions across a variety of business environments, ideally within a managed service provider (MSP) setting. You are confident working independently on advanced infrastructure and cloud projects, while also collaborating closely with Project Managers, internal technical teams, vendors, and clients. You are comfortable serving as an escalation point for complex technical challenges and supporting internal staff with troubleshooting and solution design. You communicate clearly and professionally, especially in time sensitive or high pressure situations. You focus on delivering solutions rather than technical explanations, tailoring communication to executives, business owners, and end users alike. You are highly organized, detail oriented, and proactive in maintaining documentation, managing time, and meeting utilization and budget expectations. You enjoy learning new technologies, pursuing certifications, and continuously improving systems, processes, and client outcomes. You are prepared to travel for onsite client work across the U.S. and maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in all interactions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Technology, related field of study, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Systems Technician, Systems Engineer, Project Engineer, or related role
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server operating systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Moderate knowledge of Exchange, SQL, and Microsoft core network systems
  • Advanced knowledge of networking, internet connectivity, and IP traffic analysis
  • Experience with firewall and security technologies (filtering firewalls, antivirus, anti-spam, anti-malware)
  • Experience with VPN design, configuration, and troubleshooting (Cisco, SonicWall, OpenVPN, IPSEC)
  • Advanced knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Ability to analyze network traffic using tools such as Wireshark
  • Valid driver's license
  • Proof of automobile insurance required
  • Reliable transportation, such as a car, SUV, pickup, or minivan is required to perform job duties. Motorcycles are unsuitable, as the role may involve carrying equipment that needs secure and adequate space

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support complex IT solutions, including Microsoft Intune environments, server migrations, and cloud infrastructure transitions
  • Plan and execute projects in collaboration with Project Managers to ensure delivery on time and within budget
  • Provide advanced onsite and remote technical support for client networks, systems, and security solutions
  • Serve as an escalation resource for internal technical staff to resolve complex issues
  • Design and support firewall, LAN/WAN, VPN, backup, and security solutions
  • Perform preventative maintenance, system upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure improvements
  • Research, design, and present technical solutions for new and existing client opportunities
  • Work directly with clients, vendors, and third party partners to deliver reliable, secure solutions
  • Utilize PSA, RMM, and other service tools to document and deliver support services
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of systems, configurations, service activities, and recommendations
  • Communicate clearly with clients regarding project status, technical issues, and planned changes
