About The Position

Potelco, Inc. seeks a great Project Engineer to join the team. The Project Engineer I is responsible for simple to complex utility engineering within Potelco’s distribution and transmission engineering teams. This role incorporates the utilization of various drafting and design programs (O-Calc) to create a work product deliverable that meets client standards and specifications. This position is responsible for multiple project designs from client notification and award through project completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in Engineering or three plus years related experience and/or training in lieu of education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience utilizing AutoCAD, O-Calc or other 3D modeling programs
  • Ability to be flexible, and highly organized with a strong orientation to detail/quality work
  • Candidate must have working knowledge of the project process from inception to construction completion.
  • Candidate must be able to fully utilize customer systems such as SAP to track and monitor work flow from customer to Potelco.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and information, journals, technical procedures, and data.
  • Ability to write business correspondence and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other managers, clients, customers, and local permitting agencies.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as those commonly found in business transactions.
  • Ability to create and explain financial models and forecasts.
  • Ability to apply basic algebra, geometry, and engineering principles.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Provides electric utility engineering for operation and maintenance projects. This includes the interpretation and development of distribution designs congruent with utility standards.
  • Perform field work in accordance with utility requirements specific to each customer and different work type.
  • Read and understand utility notifications and project scopes of work.
  • Interpret utility standards manuals (engineering/construction) to field verify, and design utility systems in accordance with utility standards.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and/or O-Calc to modify and create designs given a specific scope of work for each independent project.
  • Collaborate in a team environment to complete projects.
  • Provides assistance to the utility engineering team by performing field visits to gather information, as required.
  • Active learning and understanding of the work process from inception of job to construction release.
  • Performs and completes other duties as assigned or requested.
