About The Position

The Project Engineer Staff will manage the development, configuration, and maintenance of Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) for the BLQ-10 Product Line, including monitoring the Data Module Requirements List (DMRL) and its applicability. This role requires an expert understanding of documentation requirements and military standards like S1000D and 40051. The engineer will collaborate with subject matter experts to integrate technical updates, build technical knowledge, and advise on technical data. Responsibilities include organizing, tasking, and reviewing contracted writers, providing instructional guidance, and overseeing an internal team of technical writers to ensure quality control. The position involves delegating work through JIRA, supporting the development and maintenance of Contract Deliverable Requirements List (CDRL), and presenting IETM status at customer meetings. Additionally, the role supports training and onboarding new authors on IETM tools and requirements, authors technical content as needed, and ensures 100% on-time delivery. Requirements

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 4 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and as part of a team, including virtual teams, as required.
  • Ability to author technical content for procedure manuals, services manuals, and related technical publications that describe installation, operation and maintenance of electronic, electrical, mechanical, and other equipment.
  • Ability to author technical content that adheres to required standards, style guidance, contract requirements, and using clear and concise language.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • Familiar with structured authoring and XML authoring tools.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance required.
  • Possess and apply expert level of understanding of documentation requirements, military standards and subsequent styles, including but not limited to S1000D and 40051.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development, configuration and maintenance of the suite of Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) supporting the BLQ-10 Product Line Efforts, including monitoring and management of the Data Module Requirements List (DMRL) and subsequent applicability across the product line.
  • Collaborate with engineers/subject matter experts to understand Prime Mission Equipment (PME) technical updates; advise as an SME of technical data and build technical knowledge necessary to complete tasking from trainers/SMEs/Engineers.
  • Organize, task and review the contracted writers who support the BLQ-10 program, ensuring external employees understand and author to program requirements and provide instructional guidance on manual building and completion.
  • Oversee a team of internal technical writers on location, ensuring quality control over the products and collaborate with cross functional teams, including virtual groups, to gather technical data, resolve content ambiguities, and improve processes.
  • Organize and delegate work through JIRA processes and story boards, ensuring process adherence and material archiving for future program use.
  • Support the development, updates and maintenance of Contract Deliverable Requirements List (CDRL), including the publication and delivery of IETMs and technical publication data sets to the customer.
  • Attend, oversee and organize customer meetings and events, identifying options for product line publications; support customer meetings and events by presenting the current status of IETM or validation events of the material on systems.
  • Support training and on-boarding of new authors and leads on IETM tools, product, authoring requirements, and publishing, ensuring they know what software and tools are required to perform their duties.
  • Support authoring technical content and material as needed to meet deadlines and milestone events, ensure quality and support other technical writers and contributing to 100 percent on time delivery record.
  • Understand multiple configurations of the system, able to read and apply engineering documentation to applicable versions of IETM deliveries and updates of product manuals.
