Cumming Group is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Bay Area Project Management Department with a specific focus on our K-12 Project Portfolio. This position will be expected to support a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager with project administration on project sites and/or Cumming Group office. The Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating and tracking all related documents, representing the contractor out in the field, helping tradesmen interpret the job's designs, ensuring the job is constructed according to the project plans, and assisting project controls, including budgeting, scheduling, and planning.

Requirements

  • Experience with design & bid formulation and project phase scheduling.
  • Experience with the Addenda and Bid process.

Nice To Haves

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Engineering, or related field, a combination of education and work experience will also be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in project-based construction

Responsibilities

  • Assist the top Project Manager on site in the formulation of the design, bid, and Project phase scheduling of the assigned project(s).
  • Provide update/status reporting for work in progress, including costs and schedules.
  • Assist in the Addenda and Bid process.
  • Administer Project sub-contracts.
  • Under the supervision of Project Manager(s), facilitate job site meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Under the supervision of Project Manager(s), conduct close-out activities and assist with building occupancy.
  • Assist the project management team with various parts of the project, such as constructability review, value engineering, pay app reviews, schedule development, FF&E program development, and execution.
  • Assist in formulating the design, bid, and project phase of scheduling.
  • Assist in the Addenda and Bid process.
  • Under the supervision of Project Manager, conduct pre-bid and job start meetings.
  • Monitor contract compliance and report concerns to the Project Manager.
  • Under the supervision of the Project Manager, facilitate job site meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
  • Oversee approvals from applicable government agencies that are received and documented.
  • Under the supervision of the Project Manager, conduct close-out activities and assist with building occupancy.
  • Prepares field reporting for review by the Project Manager.
  • Perform the QA/QC process.
  • Review change orders for completeness and conformance to company and client standards.
  • Review RFIs/Submittals for completeness before distribution to the design team.
  • Provide basic CPM scheduling and budget management.
  • Review and maintain As-Built drawings.
