Job Summary We are looking for a Project Engineer who will be responsible for maintaining excellence in developing, executing and controlling assigned projects to achieve plant goals. Through expert application of engineering techniques and principles, the incumbent will conduct analyses and investigations pertaining to construction of new facilities and enhancements for existing facilities to optimize productive capability of the plant. We encourage the Project Engineer to make sound recommendations, considering such factors as cost, maintainability, facility of production and availability of materials and equipment with emphasis on safety and optimum performance. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, highly adaptive and capable of managing multiple engineering assignments.

  • Lead and execute capital projects (modifications, improvements, new equipment) across the entire lifecycle, ensuring delivery meets scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Define, design, and manage project installations, including preparing detailed design scopes, cost estimates, and capital expenditure justifications.
  • Drive continuous improvement by providing technical analysis of current best technologies, recommending process/equipment modifications, and resolving routine operational issues.
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for design, detailed engineering, coordination, commissioning, and startup activities for both project and plant engineering initiatives.
  • Manage internal maintenance and external contractors during project execution and support new product/systems development.
  • Provide consistent plant engineering support to Production and Maintenance, leading troubleshooting efforts and serving as the primary resource for complex problem resolution.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain thorough engineering standards for project execution, equipment, design, safety, and cost control.
  • Actively promote and enforce safety initiatives, policies, and best practices related to equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical) required
  • 5+ years experience, preferably in manufacturing or roofing/building products.
  • Must be able to work as a multi-disciplinary project manager, supervise as a lead engineer, and provide expertise in maintenance, operations, and process management.
  • The ideal candidate will have a proven background in managing all project aspects within budget, scope, and downtime constraints.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer software and G Suite is essential.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, general industry, and environmental compliance.
  • Proficient in written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
  • Advanced analytical and organizational skills with close attention to detail; able to plan, execute, and control multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Demonstrated technical problem-solving skills, including hands-on experience with contractors and/or internal maintenance.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Demonstrated ability in capital project planning, development, and execution, including conceptual/detailed design, construction/installation coordination, training, turnover, commissioning support, and sustained ownership.
  • Application knowledge of standard manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures; preferred engineering experience in transferable manufacturing, OEM, or engineering design environments with continuous production equipment/process systems.
  • Advanced ability to read/interpret specifications and drawings.
  • Proficiency using root cause analysis and structured methods (e.g., Kepner-Trego) for troubleshooting.
  • Ability to translate technical data for operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Exposure to process hazard analysis and process safety management methodologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of multi-disciplinary engineering fundamentals.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% for corporate project initiatives is required.
  • Preferred engineering experience with integrated design environments (e.g., OEMs or consultant engineering).
  • Design drafting experience with CAD, preferably Autodesk products.
  • Experience leading site Environmental Compliance (Air, Water, and Waste), serving as the facility's champion for all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements; i.e. Experience preparing and submitting mandatory compliance reports (e.g., SWPPP, TRI Form R, Tier II); managing all permit compliance and renewals; conducting routine site inspections and audits; coordinating environmental training; and maintaining comprehensive environmental records.
