This Project Engineer I position involves managing the on- and off-site execution of daily project requirements and activities under general supervision from a Project Manager, while maintaining flexibility to customer demands. The role requires independent judgment and discretion. Key responsibilities include field engineering, programming, and commissioning according to preferred approach standards, as well as managing project cost and budget allocations. A high level of customer satisfaction must be balanced with project demands and financial goals. The employee will develop personal intellectual and technical product knowledge specific to business and project needs. This includes producing controls system design drawings, sequence of operations, and submittals for lower-level control systems, while also supporting Senior Level Design Engineers for mid-level control systems. The role also involves researching and selecting control system peripherals and end devices, interpreting project construction drawings and specifications for scope compliance, and collaborating with the project team to identify additional customer options such as Energy Efficiency, Equipment Interface, and Value Engineering. The Project Engineer I will develop and maintain internal project construction schedules using 3rd party software like MS Project, manage and oversee all 3rd party commissioning requirements, and handle the project’s material procurement process, coordinating shipments to sites or other trades. Further duties include modifying controls designs to reflect field changes (As-Built drawings), generating Operation & Maintenance manuals, or transitioning final project documentation to the Engineering group. The position requires managing time and cost budgets for assigned tasks, effective communication with project team members regarding field issues, and submitting daily/weekly work reports. Adherence to safe work habits and participation in office and project-specific safety programs, including OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 training, are mandatory. The employee is also responsible for completing assigned formal training and development plans and participating in ongoing personal development programs related to product and systems knowledge.
