About The Position

Joseph B. Fay Co., an S&B USA company, headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, seeks a Project Engineer 2 to work on projects at unanticipated locations throughout the United States, responsible for performing engineering duties related to planning, designing, and overseeing Public-Private Partnership (“P3”) large-scale infrastructure and civil-engineering construction projects. Specific duties of this position include: (i) preparing quantity takeoffs, which involves estimating materials, resources, and labor needs for construction projects; (ii) developing and reviewing technical design drawings and specifications and preparing inspection, testing, and mobilization plans; (iii) preparing cost estimates for equipment, materials, and labor to determine the economic feasibility of construction projects; (iv) translating and interpreting plans, specifications, and technical shop drawings for the field personnel; and (v) coordinating the engineering activities and usage of labor and subcontractors. This position is for a roving employee who will work in unanticipated locations throughout the United States. The employee will have to relocate, but travel is not required from any particular location.

Requirements

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a directly related field plus 2 years of post-baccalaureate and progressively responsible civil engineering experience in a Heavy-Highway/Heavy-Civil P3 construction project.
  • Experience must include 2 years with each of the following: (i) reviewing engineering drawings and technical specifications and integrating the same with civil construction activities; (ii) providing technical support to field operations, resolving issues, and implementing constructability improvements and value engineering; and (iii) planning and coordinating the construction and installation of hydraulic structures such as aqueducts, culverts, and drain inlets, including large precast and cast-in-place components.
  • Must also know (from any completed university-level coursework, seminars, workshops, or real-world, hands-on experience) the following: (i) AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam Revu, Lomicon, and PDF mark-up/drawing tools; and (ii) Primavera P6, Smartsheet, FieldWire, and Oracle ACONEX.
  • Relocation required.
