The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible. Information Technology Services (ITS) is DSS’s technology services organization. ITS mission is to support the daily, emergent, and long-term needs of both agencies. ITS creates and enhances the technology infrastructure and computer applications that support HRA and DHS and develops applications, including a variety of client eligibility and recertification systems, case management systems, housing systems, employment/work engagement services, revenue producing computer matches, claiming systems, and personnel systems. The Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) is recruiting for one (1) Computer Specialist (Software) IV, to function as Project Director, who will: - Hold senior-level technical responsibility for coordinating the activities of highly specialized staff involved in the extremely complex technical activities related to the Enterprise Networking Technology (ENT) Network Infrastructure. - Routinely serve as in-house expert and authority in any number of extremely complex and highly specialized areas and will manage multiple ongoing projects of extraordinary technical complexity, encompassing multiple areas of information processing technology; contributes to the direction of the Agency. - Coordinate staff activities; direct staff in the evaluation, selection, installation, and maintenance of hardware, software and consulting services in support of the ENT Server Infrastructure environments. - Instruct or demonstrate to staff the proper, efficient usage and/or installation of highly complex databases/servers/peripherals and/or related software in order to increase the overall level of competence; troubleshoot complex problems and coordinate the repair and maintenance of same. - Develop technical recommendations for executive management to ensure the integrity and efficiency of the infrastructure, and the minimization of loss of time and/or resources; make judicious recommendation of appropriate acquisitions and upgrades to ensure the continued viability of the environment. Hours/Shift: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
