About The Position

The Commissioner’s Office provides direct executive support to the Commissioner and serves as the central coordinating body for the Agency. The Office advances the Commissioner’s priorities and tracks communications; strategically manages scheduling and workflow to maximize impact; aligns the work of the Department’s divisions with areas of focus; and facilitates coordination with City Hall, across Parks and with key partners external stakeholders. The Project Development Coordinator supports the Commissioner’s Office by providing executive-level support and outstanding customer service for the day-to-day operations of the Commissioner’s Office.

Requirements

  • 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • 2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • 3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Responsibilities

  • Under general direction, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, provide executive-level support to the NYC Parks Commissioner's Office.
  • Assist in managing a complex schedule for the Commissioner, handling frequent re-prioritizations that often require independent decision-making.
  • Proactively identify and prioritize situations requiring the Commissioner’s attention through independent analysis and judgment.
  • Coordinate resources and assemble appropriate reference and backup materials for all meetings and events.
  • Conduct research and prepare presentations, briefings, analyses and reports.
  • Support the Executive Assistant to the Commissioner in advancing schedule requests and priority projects.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and administrative support for the day-to-day operations of the Commissioner’s Office, including answering phones and drafting correspondence to constituents.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Chief of Staff and the Executive Assistant to the Commissioner.
