About The Position

ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT FULL-TIME ANNUALLY PAID PARKS EMPLOYEES Major Responsibilities - Under direction of the Bronx Chief of Recreation, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, perform very responsible work in planning functions for Recreation. - Provide clerical support for borough recreation management; prepare and edit reports, compile data and create PowerPoint presentations. - Answer high volume of phone calls; provide information to other divisions, staff and patrons when necessary. Manage incoming correspondence including responding directly when required. - Spearhead the development and implementation of new and innovative arts and cultural programs. - Work with borough staff to implement regular events citywide. - Coordinate Parks Equity Initiative (PEI) programming with borough partners. - Assist the Chief of Recreation in establishing Recreation membership goals and tracking individual center progress. - Attend community meetings, develop partnerships and create appropriate fliers and reports. Represent Bronx Recreation at meetings when required. - Review and update borough website information including center information, programming information and special events. - Assist the Chief and Deputy Chiefs with special projects.

Requirements

  • 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or 2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or 3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
