The Division of State Operations (DSO) is creating a peer and community approach to certain specialized trainings. An in-person experiential-type training, facilitated by State Operations will be the best way to effectuate improvements in communication and create healthier workplace communities. Upon the completion of these specialized trainings, the trainers need to be confident in their ability to respond effectively to issues relative to their own workplace and the Individuals served by the DSO. Under the direction of the Associate Commissioner the State Operations Peer-to-Peer Collaborative Learning Team has the primary goal of supporting the development and coordination of 'Champion' or 'Master' trainers who are located throughout 6 SO Regions and Districts. These Champion or Master trainers are responsible for creating specialized trainers for the promoting, facilitating, and supporting the implementation of specialized and custom designed training programs at a regional and or district level. Examples of these specialized Train-the-Trainer programs include Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and Active Bystander and Abuse Prevention. These Champion or Master trainers will promote embracing diversity as a strength, foster inclusivity in state operated programs across the districts, and build capacity for teaching and learning new diversity, equity, and inclusion skills. The focus of the custom CARE Train-the-Trainer curriculum will utilize 'Active Bystandership' principles to train staff in skills and strategies for identifying uncomfortable, inappropriate and possibly abusive behavior in the workplace.
