Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, Operations Management, or relevant field
  • Years of experience will be considered in place of degree
  • 8+ years of experience in project controls, project management, FP&A, or similar role including experience in managing budgets, forecasting, and cost analysis
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Team player that thrives in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • To lead and coordinate all aspects of project controls, including cost management, performance management (earned value), support of change management, internal changes, reporting, and risk analysis assuring the project is delivered within budget, and to the highest standards.
  • Partnering with finance, accounting, project management, and construction, driving project financial key performance indicators.
  • Performance Management – Conduct analysis, deliver training, and generate progress reports to assess project performance.
  • Key metrics include Earned Value, Cost Performance Index (CPI), and updated forecasts.
  • Provide leadership with real-time financial status updates using tools such as Procore, Power BI, Vista Reporting, and Excel.

  • Implement dynamic dashboards to enable real-time tracking of project performance, and prepare regular reports for stakeholders covering cost, schedule, and overall progress.
  • Aggregate data across multiple workstreams to provide executives with comprehensive visibility and actionable insights.
  • Responsible for developing and managing project budgets and forecasts, while closely monitoring expenditures to ensure alignment with financial targets.
  • This includes reviewing contractor invoices for accuracy and compliance, cost reviews with project management and other stakeholders, and cost to complete forecasting, helping maintain fiscal discipline throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Schedule Management Support – work with project scheduler to align/report on scheduling metrics
  • Proactively identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize potential impacts.
  • Oversee change control processes, evaluating the effect of scope modifications on cost and schedule.
  • Ensure all changes are thoroughly documented, reviewed, and formally approved to maintain project integrity and alignment with stakeholder expectations.
  • Provide leadership and foster collaboration across engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure cohesive project execution.
  • Serve as the primary interface between client and contractor controls teams, facilitating clear communication and alignment.
  • Potentially mentor junior project controls staff, supporting their development and contributing to a high-performing project controls function.
