About The Position

The Project / Budget Accounting Manager is a hybrid role supporting project / budget accounting for creative production, properties and IP activities as well as being involved in the overall agency financial close and reporting processes. The Manager will reconcile multiple sets of books per agency client to document the project balances by client for all P&L and Balance Sheet accounts. The Manager will help refine and establish a robust project accounting system in QuickBooks. The Manager is also responsible for assisting HS&E’s VP Finance and working with the Senior Accountant to manage client invoicing and vendor payables as well as for the financial close and reporting. What You’ll Do Project / budget accounting – reconcile client balances across multiple systems and provide project financial summaries to the account leads. Work closely with project account leaders and teams to ensure projects stay within budget, clients are billed, vendors are paid, and the project budgets are reconciled. Financial close – work closely with HS&E’s VP Finance and Horizon Sport’s finance department to reconcile and close out the monthly financial statements, with a focus on revenue, expense, and balance sheet balances per client and project. Help build out process - help create, implement, and maintain processes around accounting, financial reporting, monthly close, account reconciliations, and systems improvement. Detailed responsibilities - Partner with agency project team for billing clients, ensuring vendors are paid, and project reconciliations and reporting are provided so that project managers have a clear view of the finances of their projects Marry the day-to-day transactions to a revised process of revenue recognition Participate in the period-end close, financial reporting, and preparing summaries and analysis for management Perform period-end close activities including journal entries, supporting schedules, general ledger maintenance, as well as oversee the Senior Accountant’s management of bank, expense, and credit card reconciliations Work with the VP Finance to implement new processes and systems to support a growing agency including AP and expense management, credit card platforms, and a project accounting system implementation The ideal candidate will be able to operate independently and have a strong understanding of and experience with bookkeeping, GAAP, general ledger, project revenue recognition, period end accounting close procedures, and reconciling accounts and subledgers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 7+ years of experience in an accounting department achieving Senior Accountant or Manager level
  • Project / budget accounting experience managing project client billing, vendor spend, and reconciliation to budget in an accounting system
  • Thorough knowledge of US GAAP and bookkeeping
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks online and NetSuite
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Self-starter, able to work with minimal direction or supervision
  • Team-spirited and collaborative to achieve client objectives
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, working on multiple clients and project at a time
  • Tremendous organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and competing priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a PR/Marketing/Creative agency preferred but not essential
