As a Project Assistant (Biological Science Assistant) in Corvallis or Springfield, Oregon, your duties will include: Spawning surveys for adult spring Chinook salmon in the McKenzie River, by walking or rafting rivers PIT tagging juvenile Chinook salmon to study benefits of habitat restoration Snorkeling rivers to locate juvenile salmon and trout Installing PIT arrays and traps to support these studies The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating and maintaining fish sorting and trapping equipment
  • Experience with research and monitoring techniques
  • Experience working with fish
  • Experience collecting and recording data
  • Anyone who has or is in pursuit of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences

Responsibilities

  • Spawning surveys for adult spring Chinook salmon in the McKenzie River, by walking or rafting rivers
  • PIT tagging juvenile Chinook salmon to study benefits of habitat restoration
  • Snorkeling rivers to locate juvenile salmon and trout
  • Installing PIT arrays and traps to support these studies
