About The Position

As a Project Architect you will work closely with Strang's integrated team of design professionals to deliver architectural services for a variety of exciting project types. Working under the direction of a Project Manager and Principal-In-Charge, you will be responsible for leading teams in the design and execution of assigned projects from conception to completion adhering to all technical and standard procedures of the office. Your expertise and vision will be instrumental in developing and implementing project plans, ensuring that all deadlines are met, and that design goals are achieved. This position is located at Strang's Madison office in Wisconsin.

  • Professional Degree in Architecture, or related field.
  • Professional Registration (AIA, NCARB) or NCARB certifiable
  • 8+ years of experience in the architectural industry, with at least four years of recent Project Architect experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, preferably in the design of one or more the following building typologies: science and technology, healthcare, corporate office and higher education.
  • Effectiveness in working in a multi-disciplinary team setting, collaborating, and mentoring.
  • A thorough knowledge of building codes and regulatory standards.
  • Proficiency with Revit and Bluebeam software required.
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Enscape and AutoCAD software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-Design (programming)
  • Schematic Design (layout, material, systems, and product selections)
  • Design Development (coordination with other disciplines)
  • Construction Documents (detailing and final coordination)
  • Coordination with internal specification writer (products, manufacturers, and installation requirements)
  • Bid period (bidder question response, addenda)
  • Construction administration (RFI’s, shop drawings, product submissions, field visits, close-out)
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other disciplines and outside consultants
  • Coordinate and submit drawing packages for regulatory approval
  • Quality control of work performed
  • Regularly communicate project progress and status to all stakeholders
  • Mentor junior architectural staff and provide guidance on design and technical issues
