About The Position

The Project Architect assists in the management of planning, design, construction, and analysis of facilities used by CSN. Duties performed are for in-house projects, projects performed by licensed A/E's and projects administered by the State Public Works Division (SPWD) including coordinating and overseeing the projects from the programming phase through construction. Under the direction of the Director, this position will be responsible for assisting with ensuring the overall goals and objectives of the College and Facilities Management are met and in compliance with established policies and procedures. This position will also be responsible for participating in short- and long-term master planning efforts for the College, such as preparing campus capital project proposals, the development and maintenance of long-range plans, the development and maintenance of the College’s aesthetic and functional objectives, and communication with a diverse range of groups, including College constituencies and municipal officials. In addition, this position will also be responsible for the development and implementation of the management and use of real estate holdings. The position will maintain an inventory and detailed records of all properties acquired or disposed of, as well as managing and recommending acceptance or rejection of new properties or potential gift properties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Active architecture license in home state with ability to obtain one in the State of Nevada within 6 months of hire date.
  • 5 years of related professional work experience.
  • 2 years of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and graphics.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction, planning, design, programming, budgeting and scheduling of projects.
  • Competency of contracts, purchasing and bidding requirements.
  • Skilled in both manual and computer aided drafting.
  • Knowledge of codes and statutes related to construction and design, such as IBC, ADA, ANSI, and FEC.
  • Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to make decisions and take actions independently for a variety of diverse situations.
  • This position will be required to work on many projects with a higher level of varying degree of complexity from small suites, building remodels, building infrastructure upgrades, central plant remodels/upgrades, and new building and new central plant designs from concept, construction administration to closeout.

  • 10 years of relevant work experience with Higher Ed.
  • 5 years of experience with public sector projects or State Public Works Division projects.
