About The Position
At CROSS, the Project Architect or Senior Residential Drafter plays a critical dual role in transforming inspired design concepts into precise, buildable construction documents. This position bridges design and production, ensuring every detail is clearly communicated, technically sound, and aligned with our commitment to delivering an exceptional client experience. This role combines architectural oversight with advanced drafting execution--supporting both the creative and technical sides of luxury residential remodeling projects. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment and brings a high level of accuracy, collaboration, and technical expertise. The successful candidate will be proficient in Chief Architect software or demonstrate a strong willingness to learn. Training will be provided, and this individual will help elevate the team's technical capabilities through shared knowledge, best practices, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 5-10+ years of residential architecture and/or drafting experience
- Strong experience in residential remodeling projects is required
- Degree in Architecture, Drafting Technology, Architectural Technology, or related field
- Equivalent professional experience will be considered
- Proficiency in Chief Architect, Revit, or equivalent residential design software
- Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, detailing, and local building codes
- Experience reviewing, redlining, and producing construction documents
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Technical problem-solving mindset with a commitment to quality
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment
- Curiosity, adaptability, and a desire to continuously improve systems and processes
Nice To Haves
- Experience with high-end or custom residential projects preferred
- Kitchen and bathroom design experience is a plus
- Familiarity with 3D modeling and rendering workflows preferred
- Architectural licensure preferred; candidates pursuing licensure encouraged to apply
- Experience in a design-build or luxury residential remodeling environment
- Understanding of high-end client expectations and finish levels
Responsibilities
- Ensure design intent is accurately translated into construction documents
- Review plans for structural soundness, code compliance, and feasibility
- Provide architectural guidance on layouts, detailing, and constructability
- Redline and review drawings to ensure alignment with design vision and project constraints
- Serve as a technical bridge between Design and Production teams
- Support seamless transition from concept through construction execution
- Prepare and revise residential plans and construction documents
- Develop accurate, complete, and buildable plan sets
- Produce detailed layouts, elevations, and supporting documentation
- Collaborate with designers to translate approved concepts into technical drawings and 3D visualizations
- Support continuity between design intent and field execution
- Assist in resolving plan-related questions during production
- Maintain drafting standards and documentation quality
- Ensure consistency, completeness, and accuracy across all drawing sets
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, clarity, and coordination
- Assist in training team members on Chief Architect updates and workflow improvements
- Share best practices, efficiency tips, and software knowledge
- Help strengthen team-wide drafting standards and technical skills
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal systems, workflows, and documentation standards
