About The Position

RS&H is seeking an experienced project administrator to join their construction management team. This role involves working outside on an active construction site, directing inspectors, and assisting in all phases of moderately complex to complex construction projects. The administrator will be responsible for planning, coordinating, scheduling, and executing detailed phases of work, preparing and supervising field testing and construction inspection reports, coordinating and interpreting drawings and specifications, consulting with manufacturers/contractors, evaluating and selecting materials with lead design professionals, and observing design and construction features in the field. Key responsibilities also include managing the contractor's daily operations and significant events to ensure accurate record-keeping, ensuring materials are sampled and tested according to contract documents, and serving as a liaison to utility companies, jurisdictions, clients, and other stakeholders to resolve project impediments.

Requirements

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and seven years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Have experience in project administration and in construction of major road or bridge structures and proven ability to successfully address challenging or potentially controversial issues in a sound professional and business-like manner
  • Have a valid driver's license, be insurable, and be able to safely operate a vehicle on the highway and on construction sites
  • Have a passion for working outside and a tolerance for exposure to the elements
  • Possess strong oral and written communications skills and have the ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, and other key stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Direct inspectors and assist in all phases of moderately complex to complex construction projects
  • Plan, coordinate, schedule, and execute detailed phases of work as part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope
  • Prepare and/or supervise preparation of field testing and construction inspection reports
  • Coordinate and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Consult with manufacturers/contractors
  • Evaluate and select materials with lead design professionals and observes design and construction features of projects in the field
  • Manage the contractor's daily operations and significant events that affect the work to ensure detailed accurate records are collected and maintained in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Ensure materials being incorporated into the project are being sampled and tested in accordance with the requirements of the contract documents
  • Serve as a key liaison to utility companies, jurisdiction having authority, client representatives, and other key stakeholders to facilitate resolution of any impediments to the project construction schedule
