About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Community Schools and Partnerships, the T.H.R.I.V.E. Case Manager will implement the District philosophy, vision, goals, objectives and activities relating to all programs and policies of the assignment. The Project Administrator is responsible for providing case management to identified Redwood City School District households experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness. In collaboration with T.H.R.I.V.E. consultant, site Community School Coordinator, and District Community School Coordinator, case managers will fulfill the outlined duties and responsibilities.

Requirements

Successful experience working with underserved students and families.
Experience with qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
Defined work ethic, organizational and communication skills, and time management..
Knowledge of, and experience with general principles, practices and procedures of social service work that is referral and community based.
Knowledge of local & county resources, services and programs that benefit and represent diverse households that are at-risk or currently experiencing homelessness.
Experience with diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, ethnic and academic backgrounds of identified families and youth.
Knowledge of, and experience with principles and practices that promote diversity, equity and inclusion; and a commitment to ongoing professional development in this area.
Knowledge of the issues faced by individuals experiencing homelessness in the SF bay area and other marginalized populations struggling against systemic inequities.
Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate household schedules.
Valid California driver’s license.
Some positions in this classification may be required to speak, read and write a designated second language.

Appearance, grooming and personality which establish a desirable example for students. Professional and humane conduct is expected with students, staff and families (in and out of school settings).. Collaboration with administration and staff is expected.
Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, psychology or related field, or a minimum of two years’ case management/community work experience

Responsibilities

Serve as an initial point of contact and system of support for households wanting to enroll in the program.
Collaborate alongside assigned school site personnel to provide a safe and welcoming space when interacting with families and youth in and out of school settings.
Conduct intake and assessment of enrolled households and collaborate alongside participants to develop, implement, and revise respective case plans and consistently monitor progress toward participant goals.
Make appropriate referrals and accommodations based on participants’ needs and agency.
Assist to develop and sustain key relationships with community-based organizations, city and county services, and other entities that contribute to participant and program success.
Integrate non-academic services with school priorities and increase accessibility of school campuses to parents, community members and students through engagement techniques and practices.
Maintain participant and program records in accordance with applicable standards and regulations, grant requirements, etc.
Maintain a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality, dual-relationships, and professional stature.
Participate in continuing education activities, remaining knowledgeable in areas of youth and family homelessness and existing community barriers.
Attend and participate in various meetings and in-services as assigned; assist with coordinating and participating in a variety of special events in support of identified families.
Facilitate and/or support workshops and community groups for families that match their interest and professional development goals.
Provide support to parents to become active advocates within their school system.
Oversee the creation and implementation of a school-based preventative model for families facing housing insecurities.
Support Community School leadership and gather data to evaluate program outcomes, procedures, policies and metrics.
Supervise, support and provide programmatic direction and trainings to Community School Specialists.
Participate in site and district committees and teams as requested.
Must be flexible: Work hours are 8 hours a day, but may need to flex hours to include evening and weekend hours as needed.
