About The Position

Project Accountant Structure Tone, part of the STO Building Group is seeking a Project Accountant in New York City, NY. The Project Accountant is responsible for overseeing financial activities across designated construction projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance from project initiation through closeout in collaboration with the project team. Key Responsibilities Project Lifecycle Participate in project kick-off meetings as needed. Provide comprehensive support for all contract types throughout the project lifecycle. Collaborate with project teams to manage and review monthly actual costs. Monitor change orders and other potential adjustments impacting project budgets and costs. Independently analyze cost and schedule trends to identify potential budget overruns. Accounting Audit and process change orders for accuracy and compliance. Ensure adherence to sales tax regulations. Analyze revenue recognition issues and partner with the BU Project Accounting Manager to develop solutions. Invoicing Review client contracts for billing requirements, including markups, fee structures, retainage, waivers, tax obligations, and shared savings provisions. Manage subcontractor progress billings and documentation for compliance and timely submission. Manage subcontractor monthly progress billings in Textura and CMIC when applicable. Oversee subcontractor payment processes. Maintain billing formats (G702, G703). Prepare system-generated client requisitions and provide supporting documentation.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • 4-6 years of project accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Proficiency in CMIC and Textura.
